How do I know if hiring a home organizer is right for me?

If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t know where to start,” that’s usually a good sign. If you’re having trouble finding peace in your home because all of the clutter is causing you stress and you don’t have the time or energy to handle it, it’s time to call in professional help.

Do you work with clients who feel embarrassed or overwhelmed by their clutter?

Absolutely — that’s most of my clients. My job isn’t to judge. It’s to help you get unstuck and make progress at a pace that feels comfortable.

Question 3

How long does the organizing process usually take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the space, how much there is to sort through, and how quickly you make decisions. A single space like a pantry or entry closet might take just a few hours, while larger projects (like a full kitchen or playroom) can take multiple sessions. We’ll talk through what’s realistic for your goals before we begin.

How much does organizing a room cost? How do you price projects?

Accepted Answer

I price projects on an hourly basis at $70 an hour. I can give you an idea on pricing after our phone consultation when we go over the scope of your project. I also offer a discounted rate for military, teachers, first responders, nurses, small business owners, and senior citizens. Reach out to me directly if you fall into any of these groups for that rate.

How should I prepare my home before you come?

Accepted Answer

You don’t have to do anything, for real. I want to see your space as it is so I can understand what’s working and what’s not. If you’d like, you can jot down a few notes about what’s been frustrating you or what you’d love to change, but there’s no need to clean or pre-organize.

Do I need to buy containers or storage bins ahead of time? Are there any you recommend?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. It’s actually better to wait until we’ve decluttered and can see exactly what needs to be stored. I also like to use what you already have on hand to save you money. It's also a fun way to get creative during the project!

Question 7

Are there any areas of the home you don’t organize?

Accepted Answer

I handle most residential spaces, like kitchens, closets, basements, home offices, etc. If there’s a specialty area you’re not sure about, just ask and I’ll let you know if it’s something I take on or can refer out.

One specific service I do not offer is packing for a move. If you want help purging a room before doing the packing yourself, I am happy to help with that!  As well, once you are in your new home, I can help you unpack and organize to get your home off on the right foot.

Can you help me get rid of the items we decide not to keep? IE could you donate or take items to a recycling center for me?

Yes! I offer donation drop-off services for $50 / carload. I’ll also help sort items for donation or recycling. (This does not include hauling away trash).

I’ve organized parts of my home before, but then I can never keep up with it. Can you help me maintain my organization system after it’s set up?

Accepted Answer

YES. You’re not human if you don’t have trouble maintaining organization systems long-term. When we set up your systems, we’ll focus on realistic, easy-to-maintain routines that fit your actual life (not a Pinterest version of it). I also offer maintenance sessions if you want a refresh or accountability check-in down the road.
